New Delhi, Sep 1 (PTI) An Intelligent Transport System (ITS) will soon be in place in Mysore, Karnataka, under the JNNURM of the Ministry of Urban Development.
The project consists of design, development, testing, installation, training, operation and management of traffic and public transport system, a release said.
It is divided into eight components, such as vehicle tracking system, central control station, passenger information management system, communication sub-system, travel demand management system, incident and emergency management system and operation and maintenance specification, fleet management system.
The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee of Ministry of Urban Development for sanctioning of projects under JNNURM has sanctioned the project.
Once the project gets underway, it will facilitate modern fleet management system, automatic vehicle location, computer aided dispatch for route optimisation and reduction in waiting time for passengers.
